Good evening, in the company we have 25 Aruba 2530 switches (I just finished replacing all the old HP19xx), a couple of HP server blades and we are considering whether to replace the 50 Cisco wifi access points (and the related 3 controllers) with those of Aruba. I heard of IMC that would be able to manage from a single interface the management not so much of the blade servers, but of switches and access points to update these products, view the service status. How does it work in detail? Is it possible from its interface to change the port / vlan assignment? Is it a distro to be loaded on a dedicated machine, even virtual? Or is it an external controller? Thanks in advance for the support.

SolutionHello,
iMC is an NMS and essentially does everything covered by the standard FCAPS model for network management, using primarily SNMP protocol to poll and manage the devices, though it can also use CLI / SOAP / API for some devices.
There is no pre-packaged OVA, you would need to install it on a dedicated VM or hardware following the appropriate Deployment and Installation guides for your OS and DB of choice. You can find all the docs here, just filter for 'Installation' and 'Deployment' to find them. If you don't want to set up a DB yourself and are OK with a 10GB total DB size limit, iMC can install MSSQL Express on Windows for you.
Yes, you can update devices and manage VLAN deployment easily from iMC, and change port configurations as well. The base software also includes VRM, with which you could use to manage your vSphere/Hyper-V/KVM from iMC as well.
You can download iMC Standard here: https://h10145.www1.hpe.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JG747AAE
It includes a 60-day trial that is activated upon installation, so you can try it out without any feature limitations (except total device limit). Same trial applies for any optional separate modules you install, which you can find here by filtering for the name of the module, and then selecting 'Software downloads'.
Hope that helps.
Justin

Re: IMC for HP2530 and access points
If your question is related to the management capability of aruba wireless solutions, the answer is YES to a certain extend. IMC can manage aruba controllers (real or virtual IAP) from a device perspective (Fault, Backup, Event and topology view).
It does NOT provide wireless management capabilities as such, but this funtionality is largely covered in details by the controller's management GUI.

Thanks! I'll try it in the next days!
