NNM vs PCM

what is the diffrent between NNM( Network Node Manager) and PCM (procurve manager) and if i want to use only one of them ,what should be?

i have 1 core switch and 3 edge switches  in one location and i have 1 edge switch in another location(all switches are procurve)

i have about 100 network node (pcs, servers, switches,ip phones)

what should be the best to use and if there any compare sheet between PCM and NNM that i can use

many thanks in advance

Re: NNM vs PCM

Hello,

The NNM seems to be a broader network management software suite that also is aimed more towards managing and monitoring all the network hosts and services rather than just switches. I can't say much because I haven't used it. PCM is specifically aimed at network management of ProCurve switches, so if that's your goal it should be sufficient, and it can also be integrated with NNM.

You can always download a 60-day free trial of PCM and see if it is what you need:

This excerpt from Appendix A of the PCMv4 Admin Guide might be helpful to you:

Integrating PCM and NNM/NNMi provides a robust solution for managing HP network products in a multi-vendor network environment. PCM with NNM offers the following benefits:
■ HP Networking device management
■ Schedulable software updates
■ Group management
■ Traffic monitoring

Check the PCMv4 Admin Guide, Appendix A, for more about integrating PCM with NNM:
