Problems with topology maps in IMC

We having some issues with IMC topology maps as wondering if anyone come across this issue before. The problem is with the links between the devices. They are not all appearing. Have done a rediscovery but this hasn't helped.

Any ideas

Re: Problems with topology maps in IMC

When you added your devices where they successfully added as a recognized SNMP device or just ICMP or Unknown SNMP Device?

Verify your SNMP settigns are corerct as well as the mask.

What sort of links are missing? Direct connections between two switches? Or is it links that transit an external WAN provider?

What neighbor discovery protocols do you run on those devices?

If you logged onto one of the affected devices, how can you tell that device B is connected via port X/Y? (After all, IMC isn't doing any magic - it can only work with the info it has). Does it show up in CAM tables? Neighbor tables?

Re: Problems with topology maps in IMC

Sorry for the delayed response. It is direct connections from the core switches to the edge. The main issues is that the two core switches trunks are not being shown up. LLDP is enabled and PCM+ sees all the connections but for some reason IMC doesn't.

Re: Problems with topology maps in IMC

Sometimes with older ProCurve switches, you just have to manually link them...

Sometimes I find that deleting and re-adding a device helps: everything looks like it is fine, with the correct SNMP, SSH, etc settings, but it just doesn't discover the link, or device completely. Make sure you are using templates for SNMP, telnet, SSH, etc. You can have multiple templates for each if you need to, but it avoids the occasional typos, especially if you have messy community strings, IDs or passwords.

I had this exact same issue.

Make sure CDP is disabled then re-sync and all will be revealed correctly! :)
