We are planning an update for 2 different 5130 IRFs in R3109P14, managed by an IMC with the Plat 7.1 version. We would like to update them at least to 3208P16, without updating IMC.
Reviewing the HPE forums and the release notes, we think we can upgrade the switches without installing previous releases, but we will have incompatibility problems between the switches and IMC, updating the devices to the mentioned software release. Are we right?

SolutionHello,
The 'compatible iMC version' listed in the device release notes is normally just referring to the iMC version with which testing was done to ensure it works at the time of release. It doesn't necessarily mean you will have issues due to a newer software release on the device with an older iMC release.
That said, if you are still running iMC 7.1, I'd highly recommend planning an upgrade sometime, as that version is many years out of date. Upgrades are always available free of charge for iMC. Keep in mind that since your iMC version is quite outdated, you would need to perform an upgrade to 7.3 E0705 (latest base version) in numerous incremental steps.
