my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
hi, i just installed imc 7.3 I have (2) 5412zlv1 and (1) 5406zl switches all on 16.02 firmware. i have configured snmp and ssh on them and have discovered them in imc. i did an access check on the 3 switches and they come up 'consistent' for both ssh and snmp.
however
all 3 switch come up as status unknown. here is a picture of the details of one, as you can see, it seems to be reading snmp information
why is the status unknown?
thanks for your help

Re: my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
Did you check an click on the right side in Device Detail View on unmanage and then manage again? Did you change the SNMP communities in the meantime?

Re: my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
hi, just tried your suggestion to unmanage and then manage them. did not help, they went from unmanaged state to unknown state. the snmp strings have not changed and i did a 'check access settings' on them and both ssh and snmp show ok.
any other suggestions? i really appreciate it, this is frustrating.

Re: my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
I'm not sure, but could be, the software on the switches is a little bit old. make if possible an update to the newest available and then try again.

Re: my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
hi, all 3 switches are currently running 16.02.014. i just checked and current it 16.02.021. i don't consider that very old. i am planning to upgade anyway, but not for a while. it doesn't seem like that would be the issue.

Re: my 3 hp switches have a status of unknown
Hello Mark,
maybe the snmp timeout parameters are set to low
you could verify this with a wireshark trace
or you can simply try to set it to a higher value (for exampe to 60 seconds for a test)
to change this, go to the device detail page of one of the switches
there: Configure => Modify SNMP Settings => set Timeout to 60 seconds (press ok) and sync the device
