Okay, I made a huge mistake. I have been the admin of 10 systems for years and upgraded from NBX 100 and V5000. I know them very well. I was in the process of testing “6.5.22P03_Vxxxx.zip” AND “patch-6.5.22P03.taz on my (Dev V3000). I wanted to make sure it was okay before I applied it to the actual V3001 with 200 users.
Here is the issue. I applied the V3001 Patches to a V3000 by mistake. Both systems run 6_5_22. Now the V3000 will not boot. Below is what I see when consoled in.
0x26ffee7c-> (tRootTask): bootDev: ata=0,0
0x26ffee7c (tRootTask): ===== /dos0 partition start 0x3f, 0x961a1 sectors ===
0x26ffee7c (): task deadataDevCreate(0, 0, 614817, 63): no mirroring
0x26ffee7c (): task deadataDevCreate(0, 0, 0, 614881): no mirroring
0x26ffee7c (): task dead===== /htfs0 start 0x961e1, 0x49f538f sectors (to end of
disk) ===
SiS900 EEPROM Read Failure
0x268fd79c (nbxTaskInit): nbxTaskInit: Invalid product type.
Is there anything I can do. If I type "i" I get
Value + 653291488 = 0x26f06fe0
If you know anything I can do or if you can help please call 614-652-6356 (Name is Michael)
I have been trying to buy a support contract from HP for 3 months. I have a team that is partnered with 3Com/HP trying to work out the details. I cant get support if HP wont respond and sell it to me. I bought every system new, no word of a merger and killing the NBX line when I spend 10 of thousands of dollars. (less than one year later) HP kills off NBX and now I cant get support. Its a bad deal all teh way around. I also have 25-30 3Com 2250 SFP Plus switches. You would think a $50,000,000 a year company could get some help.
Please reach out to me if you think we can get this box to boot.

Solutionhere is what you need to do . you will need to reboot to a previous version.
on the console, do a control-R .. box will reboot
when you see "Press any key to stop auto-boot", press a key. you will
be at the Vxworks Boot prompt
type "c', then return
do this until you see the line "FIle name :/dos0/R6_5_22/vxworks
Right next to that line, you are going to type /dos0/version number you know is on your box/vxworks
so, if you know that 6.0.63 is also on the box, type /dos0/R6_0_63/vxworks, then return
keep hitting return until you see the vxworks boot prompt
then type @ , return
the NBX will reboot running that version of software.
You can then go in using ftp and load the right version to /dos0/R6_5_22
and then reboot to 6.5.22

New Problem.
Rebooting into 6_0_63 does not accept my current password. Im sure it is an old forgotten password. Anyway to find the password through the CLI Shell?

Any chance you can still decrypt passwords? I have ran into the exact same issue going back to a older version and have no idea what the password is!
