Using a modem over a 3COM Analog Terminal Adaptor

I am trying to get a modem to function over a 3COM ATA (attached to a NBX V3000). I have tried multiple modem settings, with no success. I was wondering if anyone has been successful in this area, and could inform me how they got it to work. I do have fax machines working in conjunction with an ATA.

Modems are not supported . Only faxing .
