cat3 cabling for nbx 100 system and phones

The answer is probably yes, but just to make sure: does nbx work fine on a network with cat3 cabling and what is the advantage of using cat5 or higher?

Cat3 will transmit at 10/100 mbps speed at short lengths (say 50 feet). Beyond that, your mileage may vary.

Thank you for your response, Nintendo.

As much as I know cat 3 cables can at most meet the requirements of 10BASE-T Ethernet (10 Mbps data rate) and have

a maximum cable distance of 328 feet (including patch panel connections).

This must be good enough for nbx phones to function properly.

I just wanted to double check and make sure I am right.

Yes, but computers connected through the phones switch port will be slow accessing resources on the lan, but voice should be ok. Just be careful, maybe test with a single phone before doing a full job.

Thanks. I am not planning to connect computers through the phones, computers have a separate cat5 or higher connection.

Can someone else confirm that 3C10121 phones and NBX 100 will do fine on cat3 network?
