dialing out on nbx 100

My service provider tells me that when I dial 1 before the 10 digit number, the router receives 10 digits and call gets through, but when I do not dial 1 the router does not get the first digit of the 10 digit number and stops accepting after the 7th digit with the out of service message. Provider requires 10 digits for both local and long distance calls.

So, it appears that nbx strips the first digit if I do not dial 1 before 10 digit phone number. What should I modify for it to work properly without dialing 1 before 10 digit number?

In the Dial Plan Tables I have:

  Table Entry Create  1  10  9    8   8   Local 0 1

  Table Entry Create  1  13  91 9 12   LongDistance 0 1

in the Routes I have:

  DestinationRouteOperation Create  1  1  1  stripLead  2

  DestinationRouteOperation Create  1  2  1  stripLead  1

  DestinationRouteOperation Create  8  1  1  stripLead  1

It seems I was on the right track: changed

Table Entry Create  1  10  9    8   8   Local 0 1

to

Table Entry Create  1  10  9    8   11   Local 0 1

and

DestinationRouteOperation Create  1  1  1  stripLead  2

to

DestinationRouteOperation Create  1  1  1  stripLead  1

It works as I wanted now.

The NBX will work just like any other pbx when it comes to digit manipulation .

915083235000 is dialed . The NBX strips off the 9 and sends out 15083235000 . Now , A carrier can do 7 , 10 or 11 digits for local , or long distance calling .

Most carriers today do 10 digit local and 11 digit long distance .

In the dial plan for local , you must change the min/max to 10 on either the 9 or 8 digit for local calling from 8 . You can alos make the min / max 8 and 10 . This way the NBX will be able to use both .

Most likely in your case , use the 10 on the min max and you will force everyone to dial 10 digits for the digit 9 or 8 for ALL 10 digit local dialing . And 11 for all long distance dialing 

91x x x -x x x xcalls are long distance to the NBX and other PBX'es

9 x x x - x x x - x x x x are local calls today

Thank you for details, merlin, although it sounded a little complicated to me.

Once I figured that my dial plan tells nbx to strip 2 digits for external calls and min/max digits are setup differently for 9 and 91 it was easy to figure out that I need to make it strip just 1 digit and change the max digits for external calls to 11 (for calls like 9xxx-xxx-xxxx), so that nbx sends out only 10 digits required by service provider.
