From your description, this does sound like a disk issue.

if you get the fru then you will not have to change license s, however , if you get the chassis , then you will .

Not exactly sure what is occurring as I have not seen this one ....

Re: v3001 R6_0_55 locks up on boot every time

I found a local guy with an old demo of a v3001 and he is going to lend it to me to test out my components.

If it turns out the be the HD, I may try to image it from the good drive.  This used to work in the past, does it still work?

Thanks to all that helped out.  I will report back with the results.

We do not support re imaging drives in the field .

I wouldn't use the reimaged drive in production.  I was just going to use it as an added test to determine if the failed component was the HD or the Chassis hardware.

I don't want to buy a $700 hard drive (which is absurd) only to have it be the chassis that is bad.

Re: v3001 R6_0_55 locks up on boot every time

Well I finally got ahold of a v3001 FRU and that solved the problem.  I restored from backup, upgraded to 6.0.63 and all is well.

I just hope this unit lasts longer than the original.

Thanks for all the help.

Where did you get the hard disk fru for less than $700 ?

For what its worth, we received a replacement drive after failure and restored the setting from back up. After validating that it worked, we took a second, new  hard drive from Amazon and made an image with Acronis ghost. We are actually operating from the imaged hard drive now.
