The Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Americas ITOM Summit is back! Mark your calendars for when HPE ITOM customers and partners and John Register will be taking over the great state of Texas at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel May 1-3, 2017. This year’s summit will consist of four tracks: Hybrid Cloud Management, Operations Bridge, Data Center Automation, and IT Service Management Automation. Attendees will learn how to transform  IT Operations Management so that IT can accelerate to the speed of the business.

Once again, this year’s ITOM Summit will feature a lineup of amazing speakers, including John Register as the closing keynote. As the saying goes “everything is bigger in Texas!” In fact, John rented a compact car for the event and his parking slot is the size of a monster truck!

The theme for John’s closing keynote speech is, “How you can be a hero within your organization”. Everyone has a hero; whether it is your favorite superhero character or your third grade teacher, someone has positively impacted your life. Many people consider John their hero, not because he wears a cape, but because the circumstances he has been put in allowed him to rise up with humility, courage, and selflessness.John register running.PNG

John was a natural born athlete; growing up in Chicago, Illinois, he developed a passion for sports quickly. His athletic abilities would eventually land him a scholarship to the University of Arkansas (woo-pig sooie!) where he became a four-time All-American in track and field. After he graduated with a BA in Communications in 1988, he served in the U.S. Army for six years. Here, he continued his passion for track by participating in the Army’s World Class Athlete Program where he qualified for the Olympic trials in 1988 and 1992 for the 400 meter hurdles. During a training session, he suffered an injury to his left leg after a faulty landing coming off of a hurdle.

He thought his dream was over: his shot at becoming an Olympic medalist had vanished until he found his new normal. Now an amputee, he began swimming for physical therapy and learned that there are hundreds of amputees that are still competing in their respective sports! He came back from his injury by winning a silver medal in the 2000 Sydney, Australia Paralympic games and his dream has become his reality.

Now he travels all over the world sharing his story and becoming a hero to new found audiences. And he will always be my hero, as I am his daughter. Hear him speak about Hurdling Adversity: Be a Hero in your Organization at the HPE ITOM Summit! Check out his message and more information about the event here.  Register today, you don’t want to miss the HPE ITOM Summit!
