Use Operations Bridge to Monitor Containerized Applications

HPE OMi offers monitoring content across Big Data, Public and Private Cloud, Virtualization, Database, Microsoft, J2EE, SAP and many more applications and infrastructure. But it does not stop there. The content spread expands further in the space of Docker and Dockerized applications. The HPE OMi MySQL and MongoDB Management Packs monitor those applications both on the host, as well as on the container seamlessly.

HPE OMi Management Pack (MP) for Docker 2.10 can automatically discover and monitor Docker Environment including Docker Swarm, Docker Daemon, Images and Container.  The  Management Packs for MySQL 1.10 or MongoDB 1.10 can be deployed on the same docker host along with the MP for Docker. Then it takes care of monitoring the containerized MySQL or MongoDB. This step can be automated with OMi Monitoring Automation capabilities of Automatic Assignment rule and Aspects with pre-configured credentials.

        OMi Management Pack for Docker discovers and creates the Docker Infrastructure topology. But OMi Management Packs for MongoDB and MySQL add MongoDB and MySQL discovered configuration items to the same topology to provide multi-layer overview of complete Docker Ecosystem. When a new container is launched on the docker host, the respective discovery aspects detect and update the topology with the container and its application details.

Monitoring containerized MongoDB Health

There are aspects of MongoDB Discovery, MongoDB Availability and MongoDB Performance. These aspects include monitoring MongoDB availability, Active Clients Reading/Writing, Inserts/Deletes per second, Number of Open Connections, Queries per sec and Updates per sec. Apart from generating events in case of threshold violations, these metrics can be viewed within the MongoDB Overview performance dashboard.

Apart from generating events in case of threshold violations, these metrics can be viewed under MySQL Database Overview performance dashboard.
