GetIT Now! HP Service Manager (SM) mini-app on HP Anywhere (HPA)

Did you “get it” yet? Or have you already “got it”?   The GetIT mini-app is our first HP Service Manager (SM) mini-app on HP Anywhere. GetIT is designed to bolster service desk efficiency while reducing service ticket costs and increasing end-user satisfaction, right from HP Anywhere. Now you may be asking yourself what exactly is HP Anywhere? Allow me to introduce you. If you’re already acquainted, please feel free to skip to Meet GetIT. I won’t be offended. Really.


Meet HP Anywhere

HP Anywhere is our mobile application platform designed with enterprise in mind. HP Anywhere combines the open standards of HTML5 and JavaScript, with unique capabilities for predictive collaboration, system integration and enterprise security. Now you may be asking yourself, well what does this mean for my enterprise? Essentially this:

  • Employee users gain personalized, role-based access to enterprise systems via HP Anywhere “panels”—essentially, mobile apps with special security and collaboration capabilities that run inside the HP Anywhere container. The HP Anywhere container may be downloaded from public app stores to the user’s device of choice.

  • Developers  have a mobile app development platform based on open technologies (HTML5, JavaScript, Cordova) with additional features to create “predictive collaboration”—a unique means of allowing users to connect with one another in the context of their work activity—as well as to integrate with enterprise systems of record.

  • IT administrators find the means to distribute and manage enterprise mobile apps securely and without risk to enterprise data.

Meet GetIT

GetIT is the first HP Service Manager app available on HP Anywhere. Like all of our HP Service Manager mobility features, it was developed with our HP Service Manager customers in mind. Now with GetIT for HP Service Manager on HP Anywhere SM users can do all of the following, on-the-go, right from their mobile device.


  • Knowledge Base Search

    • Search knowledge base

    • View knowledge articles

    • Rate and comment knowledge articles

  • Collaborate

    • Invite person(s) from specified groups to join an activity

      • e.g. 'ask friends' (a collaborative tool that allows one to “ask friends” if they’ve had a similar issue and perhaps a resolution!)

  • Self-Service Ticketing (Support Request)

    • Submit ticket

    • View status and details of submitted ticket

    • Close ticket

    • Resubmit closed ticket

  • Localization

    • Localized to all Service Manager (SM) languages except Arabic & Hebrew


Meet Bob, an HP GetIT end-user

Bob, does not know how to connect his iPhone to his company’s VPN network. Luckily, Bob has GetItT. He pulls up his trusty service manager app in HP Anywhere and types iPhone VPN into the search bar. Two relevant knowledge based articles from the database pop-up. He clicks each  to open and after reading them, he learns that he needs his VPN token password to connect to the company’s VPN. Unfortunately, Bob has forgotten his password. GetIT to the rescue again. Bob immediately opens a ticket request. On the ticket page, Bob types in the title, description of the issue and selects the urgency level of his request. After submitting the ticket, Bob goes to the My Open Tickets tab to view the status of his ticket. He clicks on the specific ticket that he just submitted to review its details. With the increased mobility provided by GetIT, Bob was able to search for solutions, submit a service request and use the collaboration tool, all from the convenience of HP Anywhere on his mobile phone.

How does the HP Anywhere mobile client compare to the 9.32 Mobility Client for SM? They appear to each have different capablities--would a customer need to deploy both?


What is the licensing for the HP Anywhere GetIt client? Is it included in the SM Foundation license?
