HP Discover Barcelona 2013: what you missed from the ITSM insider

HP Discover- what a show! It was the event of the year for HP, our partners and our customers. These jam-packed three days were focused on working together to build a better enterprise with the new style of IT. This new style of IT:  

  • Aligns IT delivery with business needs
  • Lowers the cost of IT services
  • Realizes faster time to market. You supply the potential, we’ll supply the technology and together, we’ll create something wonderful

We hope you enjoyed our recap of day one and the debut  of two new products:   HP Service Anywhere and HP Propel. Days two and three were just as exciting with the crowds lining up to experience the latest offerings from our Service Manager, Asset Manager and CMS teams. Before we take you on our tour of these products we suggest you get in the mood by watching the day two keynote here.

And now we proudly present….


Service Manager 9.32:


HP Service Manager 9.32, our latest Service Management milestone, was designed with feedback from our current customers and other IT users in mind. With the three major features introduced in the latest version, we met our goals to improve productivity, ease future upgrades, improve usability and ultimately increase end-user satisfaction. The end-users at HP Discover seemed impressed! With the new features and enhancements of version 9.32, the new HP Service Manager aims to help customers get the most value out of their HP Service Manager solution. The three features that are new to version HP Service Manager 9.32 are:


1.  Process Designer for Help Desk:


Our critically acclaimed process designer has been introduced for the Help Desk processes of HP Service Manager. It provides a codeless configuration user interface taht supports Help Desk processes in order to reduce complexity and assist users in delivering business value simply and efficiently.



2.  Mobility:


Did you know? By the end of 2013, the number of mobile devices will exceed the number of people on earth. this is just one of the many reasons we offer a multitude of new mobile featuers in our latest release. HP SM users can now customize views, forms and options direct from their mobile. We also made several security improvements and enhanced enterprise readiness. BYOD, we're with you!


3.  Service Request Catalog (SRC):


Our Service Request Catalog in HP Service Manager also got an overhaul in HP Service Manager 9.32, with custom field support, configurable out-of-box fields and sections and options for dynamic users.


In short, HP Service Manager 9.32 offers codeless configuration for help desk processes, increased mobility and an automated self-service request handling process. These new features and benefits were made with our users in mind, and to assist them with making their ITSM operations more efficient and effective. HP Asset Manager:


HP Asset Manager helps users and enterprises manage their IT assets, from hardware to software and everything in-between. This solution lets organizations monitor and manage all aspects of IT Asset Management (ITAM), including the processes, tools, data and the people relating to it. It provides direct results for the business by having information regarding what assets are in the enterprise’s portfolio, what they expect to own and what assets should be disposed of. By collecting, aggregating and tracking the cost of every IT asset, HP Asset Manager can logically map IT assets to business and IT services. This process conveys the information necessary for determining the return to the business of each IT asset. We saw a great presentation at HP Discover from SAP on how they use HP Asset Manager. HP Configuration Management System:


HP Configuration Management System (CMS) is a comprehensive set of tools for collecting, storing, managing, updating and presenting data about IT services configuration items and their relationships. HP CMS provides vital information to IT experts regarding the relationship between the IT environment and the configuration items (CI) in it. When changes are made to the IT environment, the CMS tool can analyze the impact those changes have on related CIs with the information present from the relationship. This in turn empowers better decision making by providing IT with a deeper and more informed understanding of the information at hand. Voila!
