How has UCMDB improved with 9.05?

The HP Universal CMDB (UCMDB) recently released the newest version of 9.05.  These exciting new updates improve a product already amongst the top of the industry.  The improvements showcase HP’s devotion to excellence and demonstrate valuable client feedback does not go unheard.  The list below breaks down just a few of the latest enhancements to this fantastic product.

Performance & Support Matrix Enhancements
As more and more customers are choosing to deploy their applications in virtualized environments, the UCMDB is extending the coverage in this front:
•    UCMDB is now certified for installing an enterprise deployment onto a VMware ESXi 5 platform. Prior to version 9.05, only small and standard UCMDB deployments were supported on virtual servers.
•    UCMDB is certified to run on Microsoft Hyper-v for probe and server (small and medium deployments)

Service Manager Enhancements
The integration between UCMDB and Service Manager is a critical component to many of the solutions we deliver (SACM, CCRM and more), and with the new version this integration is highly improved.
•    Significantly improved integration with HP Service Manager version 9.30 using the SM Content Pack UCMDB_Enhancement version 9.31.
•    The integration is now scalable to much larger data (up to 6m CI’s), and allows for more complex data structure to be synch into SM.
•    Many more CIs were mapped out of the box, reducing the time to deliver the integration
•    Better visibility of warnings and error messages related to both population and push flows.

Discovery Usability
•    You can now add a description for an IP address range on a Data Flow Probe to more easily differentiate between ranges.
•    You can now choose whether or not to "touch" or update the last access time of CIs after running discovery, enabling you better control over the life cycle of CIs.
•    The global filtering (that filters CI’s from being sent to the server), now includes the option for recursive filtering, enabling you to not only filter out a CI so that it is not included in the filter results, but also any of the selected CI's contained CIs or relationships.

Improved CI Management & Reports
•    You can now clearly see CIs from external data sources (federated CIs) in a view, as these CI’s are now marked by a small icon when shown in a view.
•    In the CI Type Manager, data model information for selected CI types and relationships can now be exported to Microsoft Excel. Also, all Compare reports (Compare CIs, Compare Snapshots, Compare Archives) can now be exported to Microsoft Excel format.

This is just a partial list of the improvements in the 9.05 version, and on top of it the 9.05 version also contains many bug fixes, making it a powerful and robust version.  If you have any questions regarding UCMDB or would like more information, please go to www.hp.com/go/UCMDB.
