IDC, a leading global provider of market intelligence and advisory services for IT professionals, recently published a comprehensive industry paper focused on today’s IT challenges. The focus was on the call for IT to "increasingly align modern technologies with business imperatives to remain relevant, stay efficient and control cost."   Historically IT has had great control over the choice and provisioning of IT resources in their relatively homogeneous environment.  But, as IDC clarifies that is no longer the case today. The landscape has shifted and trends in cloud computing, mobility, big data and social media have increased complexity causing IT to operate in a reactive mode trying to serve their users who are demanding more value, faster.

Tactics that organizations have implemented to run faster with traditional technologies haven’t kept up with this pace. Applying bandages to stop the bleeding doesn’t work either. In fact, the hole is getting deeper.

The good news is that technologies and best practices exist today to solve the problem. IT can now provide services and innovation by being armed with a plan and a few key solutions. This will help them increase organizational performance and satisfaction and return them to operating proactively.

So what is the answer?  What is the new role IT needs to play and how do you get there?  Download this complimentary IDC white paper to gain a thought leadership view of the considerations and solutions you can choose to get started in transforming into a true Service Broker in your organization.

What technologies and best practices make up a true service broker?

IDC indicates that IT organizations are seeking solutions that offer quick time to value. They recommend employing solutions that can be easily procured, implemented and maintained. Simplicity is best.  IDC insists that technology sits "at the cornerstone in virtually every enterprise's strategy for maintaining competitive advantage".  That said, IDC continues that "IT have the tools necessary to run IT as a business and balance technology adoptions with operational productivity, governance and cost gains."

Get your free IDC white paper to see how HP supports IDC’s assertions and recommendations by enabling this IT transformation with HP Propel.  HP delivers services and a "unified experience for customers so it creates a connected intelligence framework that enables IT to become a true services broker".

Thanks, very helpful. I am also finding this to be true. For example, in our organization, IT technical teams are having a difficult time presenting the business case for software upgrades or new implementations such as Propel. More and more we have have to work with the business side to get initiatives through. I will be studying the white papers.
