Power to Change

Are you looking for the most updated information on IT Service Management? Well you are in luck. There are four sessions for the  IT Service Management track of the FREE  Power to Change event. There will also be live Q&A during the sessions so that you can get answers to any questions you might have. In the kick off,  Glenn O'Donnell, Principal Analyst at Forrester Research and Matt Morgan from HP will share how you can mature your IT service desk and IT service management strategies for a more dynamic and user-oriented environment reflecting the new style of IT.

Demystifying the lifecycle approach to service management

Stuart Rance and I then discuss ITSM, lifecycles, and value chains. One interesting background point is that Stuart has been a primary ITIL author and was involved in the recent ITIL 2011 updates. Some of these updates were driven off of the need for more clarity around service strategy in an increasingly multi-sourced and consumerized  IT world. A service desk has always been a communications hub – non only within IT, but arguably more importantly between IT and the consumers of IT in a business or organization. And, the central role of the service desk plays out in critical  IT service lifecycles.

With this as a backdrop, Stuart and I will discuss the relationship between the service desk and other parts of the IT operations management (ITOM) ecosystem--from an outside-in-perspective. We effectively look at core ITOM use cases or solutions from the user or business perspective.

It is interesting that these four scenarios touch on some of the hottest topics in the industry today – DevOps, service catalogs, automated request management, … . One of our other breakouts will go into the service catalog and requesting topic in more detail – along with the role of asset management. Our other ITSM breakout will talk about SaaS and the rise of codeless configuration.

I don’t want to give too much away in a blog post. So, to get all your questions answered please join us  on either September 10th or October 1st.

10:20 am - 10:50 am PT / 1:20 pm - 1:50 pm ET

9:20 am - 9:50 am GMT / 10:20 am - 10:50 am BST

P.S. Two resources to get you ready for the event (and pose some stumper questions)! For a nice overview of the HP value streams, I recommend reading a recent blog post by Myles Suer. I also recommend reading an ebook on the same value stream topic. There will also be a Google Hangout on Aug 27 to prepare for the event. Feel free to "Hangout" with us here.
