Would you like a “Get out of Jail Free Card”?

Wait, you picked the boot?

I was recently playing a board game with my family, where you travel around the board as different metal characters with the goal to collect property and money—to build an empire or a monopoly if you will. While playing, I was struck with inspiration. Playing this game is similar to something that is currently happening within ITSM.

How many times in life have you done the homework and the analysis upfront, made a decision and then boom something dramatically changes that makes that decision or investment look bad? (In this game it is like saving up and buying the most expensive property. Then bang, landing on a cheap place and not having the money to pay the rent.)

On a personal level, that happens all the time.  It could have been the purchase of a car (remember the feeling of the first payment) or maybe on a smaller scale getting a new phone and then two weeks later a new model comes out you like better.  On a corporate level, these things happen too.

Unfortunately for some corporate clients in the ITSM market the last six months have been particularly rough on multiple levels.

First their vendor has decided to raise the price, change license schemes and raise minimums.  This specifically hurts the clients that are frozen in the snow drifts of old releases. These people see few options for warmth—given the contract is already signed.  To make matters worse the chosen vendor has decided that ITSM is not good enough for them anymore and they want to extend to HR and Sales and Marketing. This means less innovation for ITSM users.  How is an ITSM customer supposed to feel after being told, “Thank you for the money but now we are going to look elsewhere for innovation?” (There is a corner square on this board game, and it feels like you will be stuck here forever…)

Riding the racecar around the board

Then out of the blue, a ray of sunshine appears to free you from this prison.  HP released Service Anywhere to great fanfare, low prices and a ridiculously low minimum users requirement. It empowers clients to start small and grow as they are ready.  Why pay for users you don’t currently have or won’t have for months?

Your get out of Jail Free card

If you are a client that is stuck on an old version of ITSM software and you are unhappy with the price increases and you want out, you need to contact HP.  Feel free to reach out to the team here at

You don’t have to feel stuck in an old contract waiting for time to click by—that is never good for anyone.  Contact HP and we will work with you to find a way to make the transition smooth, easy and ideally painless.  We are open to discussing credits for users based on amount of contract time you have left with other vendor.  We could look to add time to your HP contract based on time left or other creative ideas to help you get out of snow jail ASAP.

This is one decision you won’t have to worry about.  Once you will make it, you will feel like you are racing around that board game in a little speedster. You can start by registering for HP Service Anywhere here.

It indeed enables you to start small yet with a solution that is already feature rich and quickly expands horizontally and vertically. And that using a continuous delivery model.
