Bootable tape backup for HP 11.23.
There is no "bootable" OS tape backup for 11.23. An OS tape backup requires the DVD media of the same version of Ignite that made the OS tape backup. There is no existing way to boot from tape alone and restore 11.23.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Bootable tape backup for HP 11.23.
I think it was partially true for Itanium servers and older versions of Ignite/UX.
PA/RISC has always been able to boot directly from tape.
You should check the Ignite/UX documentation for specifics on what you are looking for.

Re: Bootable tape backup for HP 11.23.
You learned incorrectly,
make_tape_recovery works for PARISC and Itanium systems on HP-UX 11.23.
I have done such recoveries in Itanium boxes at the HP Performance center in Ra'ana'ah Israel.

Re: Bootable tape backup for HP 11.23.
Meanwhile most Integrity servers with updated firmware are able to boot directly from tape, some older systems can't even nowadays.
For example the rx2620 with firmware 04.10 can boot from tape, with earlier versions it cannot.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
