I'm trying to run make_recovery -A on 1 server, using a tape-device on another server. -d won't let me do it, and I couldn't use NFS to mount the tape-drive either - wouldn't work. Any help at all would be great. Just so you know, I've tried this:
make_recovery -A -d system:/dev/rmt/0m
and
make_recovery -A -d /mnt/rmt/0m (NFS mounted)
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Can make_recovery -A question
The newest version of Ignite will allow you to do archives to an Ignite server over the network. It works very well.
The command is make_net_recovery.

Solution
You can NOT use a remote tape drive to make a make_recovery tape. It doesn't work.
What you CAN do is use make_net_recovery to make an archive to a machine with a tape drive and then create a bootable archive tape from the make_net_recovery image.
Look at the file /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt for details on how to do this. For more detail on make_net_recovery have a look at the man page as well.
