Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

Hi,

I've built an Ignite Server on HPUX 11.31 and the Ignite version is C.7.7.93. Installation utilities for 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31 are also installed. It all seems to be ok.

I booted a test machine from the network (I put the test machine details in the /etc/bootptab file) and I got the menu:

1. Install HPUX 11.11
2. Install HPUX 11.23 PA
3. Install HPUX 11.31 PA
4. Exit

(or words to that effect..I didn't write it down)

Anyway if I select 11.23, it works fine. It installs the OS with the network params I gave in /etc/bootptab.

But if I try 11.11, it gives me errors and also states that the "configuration does not contain and environments"

I recently rebuilt this thing and recreated the depots for 11.23 (make_depots)....but not the others if I remember correctly.

But the depots are definitely there.
Any clues? Do I need to recreate the depots or something if I reinstall Ignite? Kinda lost here.

Thanks

J

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

hello

I think u need to create depots for the 11.11 systems and add those to the Ignite Configurations as the error that u tell suggests.

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

The depots for 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31 are installed as the "swlist -l depot" command shows.

How do I do the second part of what you suggested?

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

Shalom,

To support all the listed OS, you need to install 4 things.

Ignite version. Newer is better.

Ignite tools for each listed OS.

If all these match the errors should cease.

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

Make sure that you have the depots for all versions installed.
# swlist -l depot

If the depots are installed then check your /var/opt/ignite/INDEX file and make sure that you have stanzas for each OS you wish to install and that each of these stanzas have valid cfg files pointing to the depots.

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

Hi

after u had created the depots for the 11.23 systems u might have aded those depots to the Ignite Config right ?

Think do follow the same process for the 11.11 depots also.

then u can get those included with the Default Ignite 11.11 INstallation Config and can use to install 11.11 using this server ona client.

Re: Can only Ignite certain versions of HPUX

Hi

Once u make a bundle from the depots for ignite (using make_bundles) u need to tell ignite to recognise that as an Bundle using the commands make_config and manage_index to add them to the 11.11 config in the /var/opt/ignite/INDEX of the Ignite server.

This is in a short of what u need to do ... This is not a very big task.

u can find this link as helpful.
