Re: Cannot boot from K class Tape archive in L class Machine
The two types of machines are just too different.
You would be better off doing a cold install of HP-UX on your L.

Re: Cannot boot from K class Tape archive in L class Machine
Especially since the K is 32-bit.
The L class servers are 64-bit ONLY!
You have absolutely no hope of getting this to work.

The 32bit K400 uses a PA-7200 processor and is incompatible with the 64bit L-class. The L-class cannot run a 32bit kernel from the K-class. You have no choice but to install a 64bit OS on the L-class and then copy you data and applications to the L-class. HP has not manufactured a 32bit processor for many years.
Note that you may need to upgrade your application to run on a 64bit kernel. A well-written application should work OK but it all depends. Check with your application support desk.

Re: Cannot boot from K class Tape archive in L class Machine
You gotta love the point system. 1 point for posts from Bill & I with 100% CORRECT answers.
I guess this is just another case of you not liking what we are telling you, so we get 1 point? If we were to tell you that it would work would we get 10 for a WRONG answer?
Sorry, just had to vent......

Re: Cannot boot from K class Tape archive in L class Machine
If I would tell you something like "no problem" - how many points would I get?
Anyway, it does not change the facts ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
