Client can't create recovery directory on server.

Client can't create recovery directory on server.

I've recently rebuilt the Ignite server and it is up and running fine. I can boot a client from the network (boot lan) and I get the Ignite Install menu perfect.
In the Ignite server GUI there are no clients. I added the test client and the server installed the Ignite utilities on the client and added an icon for the client. So far so good.
I then logged onto the client and ran a make_net_recovery -s -x inc_entire=vg00 and hit 'enter'

It fails...stating that it is "unable to mount or write :/var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/".

This directory exists on the server and it has permissions 775 and bin:bin.

I can also manually mount the directory on the client.

When you run make_net_config does Ignite automatically add the recovery directory for the client?

This is baffling.

BTW ... I can rlogin from the server to the client but not the other way round, if that helps.

Also the following lines are in the dfstab:

share -F nfs anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/clients
share -F nfs anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/recovery

and shareall is executed. Like I said I can manuall these directories on the client.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Client can't create recovery directory on server.

HI jakie,

please try puting the entries like this in the /etc/dfs/dfstab

share -F nfs -o anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/clients
share -F nfs -o anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/archives
share -F nfs -o anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/clients
share -F nfs -o anon=2 /var/opt/ignite/archives
#

nd then unexport and reexport

Re: Client can't create recovery directory on server.

hi

also can see by using a synatx like this in the /etc/dfs/dfstab for that client on the ignite server.

share -F nfs -o anon=2,access=hpkol2 /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/hpkol2

also when u are able to mount this on the client for test are u able to create a directory onto that NFS mounted fileys.

also check for the necesary entries in the /etc/hosts for the client .

just few thoughts
