Create Golden Image with Oracle

Hi!
I am preparing to make golden image of a system which is running Oracle 10.

If i want to deploy that golden image onto another identical machine(s) can it leads to unexpected behavior of Oracle?

Re: Create Golden Image with Oracle

Yes its possible...!!!

You can include your oracle home filesystem during ignite backup & replicate on other server .....

The oracle should work perfect .. But you have to think bout the data files of oracle ... where it was located ????

if any data file missing on new replica .. it wont work....!!!!

Also you cant take backup of data files online ... you have to shutdown the database for this...

If you want to a bunch off installation like , 10 servers with hpux & database ... this option is possible..

Install hpux on first server & complete oracle installation....

Take ignite backup & clone it on remaining servers

Re: Create Golden Image with Oracle

I have done migration of 40+ hp database servers with ignite clone ... we had oracle filesystem on vg00 & it worked properly...

But one extra work ... we had take oracle data files bakup with dataprotector & restored in new server ..

Re: Create Golden Image with Oracle

I see!
Thanks for info!

I don't need any backup of data files ... just Oracle installed with DB instance created ...
Is it going to work (Oracle Server) if i make golden image of it and deploy it to identical machine? What about ora config files? Will i have to change oracle config files with new hostname or ip address?

Re: Create Golden Image with Oracle

So does anybody knows EXACTLY which files needs to be updated in order Oracle database instance should be up and running without problems?

Thanks!!!
