Different Ignite-versions
Hi
We're running an Ignite-server and 2 clients with version C.7.4.157
some time ago we installed a new version of 11.31 on 2 other hp-boxes
and with that installation came a new version of Ignite , C.7.11.439 .
Thje server now refuses to back up the clients with a newer version
than itself and the question is :
I can download a new version , C.7.13.259 from Hp and install on the
Ignite -server but should the clients preferably run the same new version
or is it ok to run the old versions on the 4 clients ?
regards
Ole Martin Aas

Re: Different Ignite-versions
I would advise you to run the same version of Ignite on the server and all clients.

Re: Different Ignite-versions
Ignite is a dynamic (changing) product because of new hardware. It is ALWAYS recommended to run the latest version on your server, while the clients can run older versions. However, older does not mean ancient versions...major versions (C.4, C.5, C.6) should be upgraded. Ignite is self contained so upgrading does not affect normal system operation and does not require a reboot. NOTE that complete removal of all Ignite products may be necessary when upgrading really old versions.

Re: Different Ignite-versions
So then this is permissible?
Client: 7.2.94, Client Ignite boot CD 7.2.94, Ignite Server 7.4.157

Re: Different Ignite-versions
Yes, the C.7 server will handle all versions of C.7. The incompatibilities occur when the server is a lower revision than clients.
