Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

rootdg is the vxvm equivalent of vg00.

VxVM requires a "volume group" to use LVM terminology by that name. You should be able to set that up on one of the tabs in the Ignite Interface.

Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

Hmmm ...

i will try.

But why did i not get this message on all workstation, but only on this one?

Is there a reason for it? Like Firmware ( I just upgraded the firmware to 5.0 ), network cards (this one is the only with 2 cards) or anything else?

Any ideas?

Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

Are you doing a vanilla install from CDs?

If so, have you checked a "VxVM" box somewhere?

If so, uncheck it and specify "LVM".

Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

I have an ignite-ux netinstall server and install every client with the server settings (no user interaction). So all clients get the same settings.

Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

Well, he wouldn't be giving you a "rootdg" message if he didn't have some reason to think that "VxVM" was involved somehow.

Maybe it was there before on this server?

Re: ERROR: VxVM requires that one disk group be named "rootdg"

I have two disk in all workstations and normaly i install one and the other will be configured by my post-install script. But if i leave the second disk untouched in this workstation, i get these message. Now i have configured this disk in the ignite user interface and it works.
The second disk was given to me by the user of the machine and i do not know where it came form. Maybe there was a VxVM volume on at and ignite recognized it.
But know it's working ... finally.

Thanks for your help.
