Enabling shadow passwords right from install time

Hi,

I want to install the bundle LongPass11i3 (for enabling long passwords) during my Ignite install. LongPass11i3 installation fails if the machine isn't using shadow passwords, such as during Ignite time.

So far I've tried adding /usr/sbin/pwconv to the pre_load commands, but that fails because the mini-environment isn't complete enough to convert to shadow passwords (I assume that's why it failed; I never actually expected it to work really) I've tried searching to see if there's a way of installing the machine in shadow mode from Ignite, but the docs don't mention it.

So far, I think I might have to do something less elegant, such as swinstalling the LongPass11i3 bundle in a post-load command, but that just seems like the wrong place to do it.

I'm quite surprised that Ignite doesn't have a "use shadow passwords" option -- am I missing it? Does anyone know of a more elegant solution?

Re: Enabling shadow passwords right from install time

Try installing the software with sw_sel with that has a higher load order than the core OS and set a pre_load_cmd >in< that sw_sel that runs pwconv to convert the system before the software is installed.

Shalom,

Ideas:

1) do the conversion on a system before igniting and it will be preserved through the Ignite process.

2) Use an Ignite post install script to take care of it.
