Re: Extending / (root) -----????
There are indeed several ways, but perhaps the safest way is to take an Ignite 'make_tape_recovery' backup of vg00 and use it to re-Ignite (re-install) your operating system.
Choose the Advanced Installation mode and select the sizes for the filesystems you require.
Regards!

Re: Extending / (root) -----????
Best option is create a ignite backup. Reboot from tape go to interactive mode and extend the file systems from there.

Yes we have in short steps are .
1. take your system in single user mode
2. remove LV /dev/vg00/lvol4 which is /tmp
3. extend lv /dev/vg00/lvol3 which is /root
4. recreate lv /dev/vg00/lvol4 /tmp
resart machine into multiuser mode init 3
