Golden Image selection not showing on "BASIC" tab

I have created an 11.23 Golden Image archive and placed it on my ignite server (make_sys_image). I changed the cfg file to recognize the archive, edited the INDEX file and re-exported the archives.

(I think I did all this correctly!) But....

When I attempt to ignite a new server with this new image and call up "ignite" from the server, The new Golden Image does not appear as a selection on the "BASIC" tab.

Have I missed a step?

You probably have missed a step.

Can you post a link to the document you are using. Its hard to tell what step if we don't know what guide you are using and what steps you took based on that guide.

better yet, go through the process again, slowly and carefully making a checklist as you go.

If its not showing up either you missed a step or there is an error in your configuration.

Did you check the files with instl_adm -T after you modified them?

Marvin, I did the instl_adm -T after I edited the INDEX (added the new cfg file) and it showed it with no errors.

Someone here suggested to check the permissions (don't know what these should be for sure)and owner:group. I know everything should be bin:bin under the "/var/opt/ignite/archives/Rel_B.11.23" - I have not checked this yet.

Update... I found out what the problems were (I think). Marvin said to perform the instl_adm -T command which I had done, however, I edited the INDEX file after that and should have done it again (Duh). Once I did that, an error appeared stating that the permissions were incorrect on the archive. Made the change. Started the ignite process again. I noticed in the very first screen that appears, there is a "drop-down" box that allows you to select the version. Missed this on the first "go-round".

Once I selected 11.23, and went to the next screen, selected the "BASIC" tab and happily, the 11.23 selection appeared. The ignite went as planned.

Solution is as above. - First, use a checklist and follow the steps. Next, take the time to examine the ignite log files to determine where the problem is.
