my customer has two rx2620 and he is new to hp-ux. He has used aix and tru64.
His question is how to make a system image like aix mksysb or tru64 dump.
In hp-ux I know make_tape|net_recovery, but the problem is that the rx2620 hasn't any tape directly connected and there are any other hp-ux servers on the network.
My dubt are following:
1) if I connect an usb dat drive, I can be able to a make_tape_recovery on it
2) is possible to write do cd/dvd the image created by make_net_recovery ? If yes, which operating system must to use to do that (only another hp-ux, or also linux/windows) ?
3) are there any other ways to create a system image ?
thanks in advance
kind regards
Davide

Solution2) If you create a make_net_recovery you can convert it to DVD. BUT Ignite only runs on HP-UX, so you need another HP-UX machine to act as an Ignite server.
3) Not easily.

2) Yes, you can make a cd/dvd out of a make_net_recovery image:

3) Not really

Re: HP-UX 11i v2 Itanium make_net_recovery info
Hi All,
If we have another system with NFS enabled ( Solaris / Linux / Wintel ), can't we build the archive on the same ?

Regarding your answer to the first question, where is support for a USB dat drive documented/described? Does this include boot support?
Thanks!
