HP i870 Integrity Blade
We just purchased a HP e7000 blade enclosure with a Integrity Blade running HPUX 11.31. My question is if this is the only HP UX server we have, what is the best way to perform an IGNITE Backup of the system? What extra Hardware do we need. I tried to do an Ignite to a USB HP DDS Drive but it keeps failing.
Thanks !
Darren

Re: HP i870 Integrity Blade
Bl870c i2?
Ignite is difficult, because you need a (fibre channel) tape drive.
I assume you have fibre channel switches in the enclosure. So a possibility would be a autoloader with a fibre channel lto-5 drive.
Alternative you can consider to use just DRD to another internal or external disk to create a clone of the OS.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP i870 Integrity Blade
Thank you for the tips! But my main concearn is to be able to boot from an external device and restore the Ignite Image like I could with my RP7420 machine & tape device.

Re: HP i870 Integrity Blade
HP makes tape blades. You might look into them for your Ignite purposes.

Re: HP i870 Integrity Blade
HPUX not support USB Tape.
But you can use Fibre-Tape in this case.

Re: HP i870 Integrity Blade
Hi
One solution is there if u have the network ignite server in place and have the image of other BL870i2 server u can push it and install server. And if u want to take ignite of Bl870i2 that also can be taken if u have the tape library from tht a drive is mapped on to this server by using that drive u can take network ignite on tape.
Hope it is clear.
