Hardware failure? After Ignite Install

Hello.
I'm trying to install a golden image onto the sake computer I generated it from. It is a 735 machine.

I just installed the B.3.2.45 Ignite package.

After it transfers the files and reboots the computer, it loads the kernel, then screen goes black for a couple minutes. Then it scrolls a ton of text, ending with a core dump, and this message:
I/O hardware probe timed out at path 2/0/1
2/0/1 is the primary scsi controller with the hard drives.

It does NOT do this if I install off a CD, and the scsi bus is terminated correctly etc.

Does anyone know what is causing this error?

Re: Hardware failure? After Ignite Install

It may be that when the reboot occurs during the Ignite process, the SCSI adapter may be in an invalid internal state(thinking that it is still doing i/o). I would suggest powering down all of the hardware including the disk chasis' then bringing it up cold and proceed with the Ignite restore. This should force the SCSI adapter to clear any I/O it thought it was doing which would explain why the Ignite restore was timing out. Hope this helps.

Good Luck,

Re: Hardware failure? After Ignite Install

What OS are you trying to restore ?
If this is HP-UX 11.X, it is not supported with Ignite on a 735 workstation.

Re: Hardware failure? After Ignite Install

I experienced something like this whit a K370 and K380.

I must update ignite and then no problem.
