How to make use of Ignite server in an HP Data Centre ?

Hi,

1 - What are the steps involved in setting up an Ignite UX server.

2 - what are the steps involved in creating or saving a recovery image or an archive of each of the other HP-UX servers onto the Ignite server ?

3 - If I want to restore a server using its image previously saved onto the ignite server, what are the procedures ?

Re: How to make use of Ignite server in an HP Data Centre ?

Hi

1 - An ignite server can be any machine with some spare storage. Simply install the ignite UX software.

2 - A client (other hpux machine) image can be created from the ignite GUI. Simply open the GUI and click add_client, and follow the on screen prompts. You can also run make_net_recovery from the client with the appropriate switches.

3 - If the client that is to be restored is still running, the ignite server can 'send' the backup image down and install it. If the client is down, then some configuration is needed. I have achieved this by turning the image in to a golden image and adding it to the INDEX file.

hope this helps.

For all steps/procedures refer to the Ignite-UX Administration Guide - http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX/infolib.html
