How to specify the size of various logical volumes in golden image in terms of % disk size of target
Hi,
I want to change the configuration file of golden image of HP UX 11i v3 [11.31] such that depending upon the target system's disk size it can allocate MBs/GBs to all the logical volumes and swap and stand in such a way that it is always sufficient for any target no matter disk size is different for all the targets provided it's sufficient for installing HP UX 11i v3.
Here what I ma looking for is the syntax where in I can say use x% of disk space for swap, x1 % for /var and x2% of free space for /opt and so on...
Thanks,
Wills.

Re: How to specify the size of various logical volumes in golden image in terms of % disk size of target
Shalom Wills,
Unless some new feature has been added you have to calculate this and then enter the sizes.
This will also lead to poor results.
/stand doesn't need to be much more than a few hundred megabytes. If you set it up as a percentage of disk size, you will waste a lot of space on larger boot disks that you will never use.

Re: How to specify the size of various logical volumes in golden image in terms of % disk size of target
The OS is pretty static in what it requires.
using a % for os filesystems depending on disk size seems frivolous to me..
As mentioned if stand is static at 500MB then why allocate 1GB or 2GB because you have a bigger disk. What a waste.
For every system that I have, the size of the OS lvols/fs are static and based on a standard, so each server gets built the same way. Using some variable approach just does not seem like a good approach to me.
