Sorry to say Ignite won't do this. The tape device needs to be local.

But you can prepare net recovery and put it onto tape.

Do you have any clear procedure where i can take ignite backup of the system on the other hp-ux server...i think make_net_recovery will do that..since i don't have much hands on this command..if you have any procedure on this please let me know.

SolutionUse make_net_recovery and create the tape on the ignite server using doc :
/opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt
and search for "Creating a Bootable Archive Tape"

You can use make_sys_image, create a tar file and then move that file to another system and write it to tape.
See attachment for generating the tar file
