Hi:

Simply run 'swinstall' with the new version as your source. There is no need to remove the old version you have installed. Ingite FAQs appear here:

The FAQ referenced in the last post does have a good section on things to look for.

Sometimes, folks end up with mixed versions. Like the FAQ says, it's good to do 'swlist | grep -i ignite' after your install, just to make sure that 7.1 is fully there, and nothing from 6.9.150 is left behind.

My practice is to always swremove the old version of Ignite before swinstall'ing the new version.

I have had trouble in the past when I just swinstall'ed the new version.

Shalom,

swremove the old version after backing up any custom configuration and INDEX files

swinstall the new version and put your customization back in.

Also, if you are doing Ignite-to-Disk backups, you want to keep the disk server at the same or higher ignite level.

I have done the upgrade and have the problem described above where I am showing mixed versions. The O/S seems to recognize 6.9.150 as the current version even though C.7.1 has been installed. At this point is it safe to simply swremove C.6.9.150 to fix the problem?

Assigning points to those who help is a good way to appreciate them for their work, and to let others know which answers solved the problem.

Download ignite by going to software.hp.com and searching for 'ignite'. Click the 'receive for free' button to the left of 'ignite-ux'. Fill in the form and download the software.

Now transfer the downloaded file to your hp server. this example will put the depot into the /tmp directory

remove the old version of ignite:
# swremove B5725AA
now install the new version:
# swinstall -s /tmp/Ignite-UX-11-ALL_C.7.1.93.depot \*
(change the name to whatever the depot file is saved as)

Just to let everyone know, I called HP Support about this -- If you did not swremove the old Ignite version before installing the new one and you are seeing multiple versions installed on your system, you will need to swremove BOTH versions of Ignite and then reinstall the newest one.
