Ignite L1500 and 11i
I tried different tape/tape drive/Ignite version!
I then created and verfied a working tape on an A400-6x and tried to boot the L1500 from it and again failed with same errors
Any ideas please???

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
The fact that you are creating the tape with the "Ps" option makes me wonder if messages that might offer some clue are being suppressed. I would suggest re-creating the tape without the "Ps".
Pete
P.S. I'm not sure why you would use the "l" option either.

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
Yes, L class, never heard of the L1500 but I've worked extensively with L class boxes and they are not compatible with A400 boxes.
The hardware differences will make working from this image problematic if not impossible.
An Ignite Colden image includes the CORE OS, which essentially intalls the system and hardware anew as part of the process. After this it lays down the Ignite image on the system. I've used this to clone unlike machines and been able to leave them in production for a long time.

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
Please try to create a ignite tape with a
-i option (interactive option) and then take it to the other system. I have tested this after tweeking yes you can clone a system. And it works like a charm. Once it boots on your target system it would ask for hostname, IP address, etc information.
Please let me know if you have any problems.
Thanks

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
The -I option allow us to clone onto other servers and lets us change hostname ip etc
With regards to differences in Hardware platforms I am now igniting from another L class albeit slightly older that I will test on server 1 once it has completed its backup
Watch this space :-)

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
I've never had a problem igniting within a server series. I've done rp5450 to rp5470 and such.
Between server lines, I experimented and moved to Golden images years and years ago.

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
I then tried to tar tvf fsf1 from the L1500 and it checksum errored on the 2nd file /stand/system. I did try the "tar tvf" on all previous tapes I have made whilst troubleshooting this problem and all failed. Even when tar tvf from another system.
ALthough I have swapped DDS3 Tapes and Tape Drives!
Since then I have completely rebuilt the server from CD's and will try igniting agaain!!

Re: Ignite L1500 and 11i
Rebuilt the server from scratch! Changed tape drive - scsi cable et al. Ignited the brand new system and re-ignited back onto brand new system
Change tape drive on 2nd system and using tape from brand new system it ignited ok!
Conclusion ... faulty OS build, 2 pieces of flaky hardware.
Thanks for your help
