Ignite Problem

I am trying to a recoverable boot image from an rp7410. I am getting the error message

>>>>
Preparing to create a system archive

* Archiving contents of via tar image to local device/dev/rmt/0mn.
pax: example : Optional ACL entries are not backed up.
WARNING: The pax command returned a non-zero exit status (exit status 1)

NOTE: The following files are in the list of files that were on the
system, but they are no longer present. These files are not
included in the back-up:
/var/opt/sanmgr/hostagent/log/SAM-HostAgent_165.log
/var/tmp/ign_configure/make_sys_image.log

ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will
not be created.

I have tried to exclude the said directory (example) and infact it is not part of the root vol group which I am trying to backup. Any Suggestions ?

Re: Ignite Problem

Hi all:

Just found this thread

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=18809

The same issue there, but they have said the image should be alright. Can I believe that I have a working image aswell ? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Ignite Problem

Do you have a sym link to these files which exists in your root vg which is beeing backed up?

Re: Ignite Problem

The "NOTE" regarding files not being present is not uncommon, but that normally produces a "completed with warnings" rather than a "completed unsuccessfully".

This will list the contents of the archive.
mt -t /dev/rmt/Xmn fsf 1
tar -tvf /dev/rmt/Xm

If you had the resources (hardware) your best bet would be to try to boot from it before counting on it to work in a pinch.

Did you check the complete recovery log to see if there were any other errors?
/var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest/recovery.log

Re: Ignite Problem

Hi all:

Thanks for the replies

There is no link poiting to the directory :-(

I checked the tape using tar for a listing of files. There were many files...not sure if everything is there....recovery.log does not have any further info than I had posted unfortunately. Any suggestions ?

Re: Ignite Problem

Sorry to hear that. If you can, check this out: http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX/download.html There is a paragraph about the required pax patches. You may wish to check if you have the latest ones. Maybe it helps.

Re: Ignite Problem

I had to remove the acl entry on the file it was complaining about and I was able to make a clean image. Thanks everyone for your help.
