Ignite RoadMap or Updates Qtr'ly ?

Can someone help me out regarding the futures on IUX and would it be very important to maintain 1 or 2 Rev levels behind the Field Updates from HP ??

Thank You in Advance for any help.

D Block,

Yes it is always recommended to maintain 1 or 2 rev behind.

See the IUX support matrix

We are very careful with Ignite now. We went up to C.7.1.93 (because it said it was DST compliant) but got bit when we found a bug that Ignite rewinds *all* tape drives on the system, not just the one being used for the make_tape_recovery. Messed us up for quite a while until we discovered that Ignite was the cause.

Shalom,

As Ignite infrastructure gets more complicated, upgrades get harder and harder.

You have important images stored that may need a certain version of Ignite to be certain of recovery. Also, upgrading Ignite requires swremove before installing the new software. That means manually backing up configuration customization for network recoveries and Golden images.

Because of this factor and our workload we're several years behind on Ignite updates. We download the new releases and watch ITRC and other sources for stability. We try and pick a stable version and move to it organization wide every few years.

We rarely go with bleeding edge releases.
