Ignite UX 4.1 Upgrade

I need to upgrade my ignite server from Ignite UX 4.1 to 5.6 for use with the Itanium servers. What is the prcedures in doing this and is there any gotchas I should be aware of?

Thanks,

Re: Ignite UX 4.1 Upgrade

I always use swremove to remove the old version of Ignite and then swinstall the new version. I haven't ever had any problems with this method.

Re: Ignite UX 4.1 Upgrade

copy your custom configuration files off before doing the swremove.

To go 4.x to 5.x swremove is mandatory to avoid issues(trust someone who learned the hard way).

Re: Ignite UX 4.1 Upgrade

I have done this recently. And as such it is farely straight. Do not keep the older version of ignite. Do a swremove on it.

swlist -l fileset | grep -i ignite
swremove

Do a install using swinstall.

On one of the server I have tried keeping the older version which has created problem for me.
Ignite doesnt overwrite any configuration file which were changed after the installtion or manually. So it's safe.

Also you can have backup of /opt/ignite and /var/opt/ignite in case you need to revert back.
