Re: Ignite-UX and Solaris Jumpstart
Ignite has the following areas of focus:
1) Create a DR image tape or cd bootable
2) Create a golden image usable for system replication.
3) New System Install Interface
4) Create network DR images specific to the server that created the image.
By reading the documents in post 1, you'll see the similarities and differences between Solaris and Ignite.
As far as skill transfer, I would not count on that, but reading the document will give you an idea.
The best way to go is book a course at http://education.hp.com in Ignite and then you'll learn the product very well and be able to get the job done.

Re: Ignite-UX and Solaris Jumpstart
I use both ignite as jumstart in our environment. It would be impossible to compare these two products, but they have similarities.
Ignite creates an bootable image from the current OS and stores it on a tape or server for recreation and restore facilities.
Ignite server can also be setup like Jumstart to create lan based installs over a network. You can copy install cd's to the ignite server (multiple hp os versions like jumpstart) in combination with other software.
Check below link for more info, on the right side there is a list with FAQ's, overview etc.

Re: Ignite-UX and Solaris Jumpstart
Maybe you can start with ignite faq at this link,
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html
and this from hp doc site,
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90837/B2355-90837.html
Hope this helps.
