Ignite-UX system build fails to complete using 100BT Network Interface
Hi,
We have setup an Ignite-UX server to cold install systems in out network.
When we attempt to install the O/S from the Ignite Server on to the K-class client using the HSC 100BT network interface, it fails to complete.
When using 10BastT it works fine.
1. We boot the system using an ignite ux CD
2. We connect to the Ignite-ux server using the 100BaseT network interface.
3. It installs HPUX 11.00
4. When it reboots of the disk and tries to connect to the server using 100BT to complete installing other products, "ifconfig" fails with an error message "no such interface" lan1.
It appears that the Ignite-UX install CD that we use to boot the system has the driver for the 100Base T card. But the kernel it installs on the disk does not have the Driver for 100base T.
Has anybody faced this problem and have work around?
We use the latest version of Ignite-UX, but old October 1999 Core O/S.

Re: Ignite-UX system build fails to complete using 100BT Network Interface
This is a known problem. Ignite doesnt handle 100bt lan cards very well and especially if theyre not lan0. Ignite is setup to handle lan0 only. And addition lan cards (lan1, lan2 etc.) have to be setup manually afterwards - unless you customise your ignite setup. This is going to be difficult, take time and involve trial and error.
I think the best thing to do would be to reconfigure your lan cards so that the 100bt is lan0, then I think ignite could handle this ok. This involves using the ioconfig command. (see man).
Or check with the ignite site, maybe they have a workaround or a new version which will resolve this.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Re: Ignite-UX system build fails to complete using 100BT Network Interface
What do you use on your server to install clients ? A "Golden Image" or OS SD-depots ?
In both cases, the right driver sould be automatically selected (when creating the Golden Image, or when installing OS from depot).
