Ignite-UX

Hello everybody
I'm new to the HP world and would like to know how to install Ignite-UX.

I've tried
>> swinstall -s /cdrom Ignite-UX-11-00<< which gives the following errors:
++ could not access file "codewords_file" in the software item "". Access to the remote source has been lost
++ "A file I/O error has occured on this system. Make sure that you have enough
disk space in this directory used for temporary disk files. This directory is
usually /usr/tmp or /tmp." (increasing both of these file systems did not kick off that error)

I've also tried the swinstall GUI, but the error "A file I/O error has occured on this system. Make sure that you have enough
disk space in this directory used for temporary disk files. This directory is
usually /usr/tmp or /tmp." still comes up.

Thanks and cheers

Re: Ignite-UX

This seems like such a simple thing...I must be missing something.

Have you tried the easiest way I know ..

Put the CD in the CDROM
At prompt type: swinstall
Generally it looks automatically looks to see if there's a CD loaded and goes to that and starts.
Ignite_UX is nothing you need a codeword for so you should be able to highlight and mark then install. Does not cause a reboot.

/usr/tmp.... is a symbolic link back to /var/tmp. I've never seen an error regarding this, but there's always a first time. If possibly it is complaining there is not enough room on /tmp than you could either go and clean off unneeded old files..or extend /tmp. You can extend on the 'fly' if you have Online AdvanceJFS on your system already; or by rebooting into single user and extending that file system. BUT first, I'd just try to do the swinstall the easy way.

Hope this helps...

Re: Ignite-UX

Try this:
# touch /var/adm/sw/.codewords

Retry the swinstall.

Re: Ignite-UX

Hello "DT",
it seems you try to install Ignite/UX from the application
CDs - that I would NOT recommend: you will install an
OLD version that way, and currently we have two newer releases! Try to get the current release from the HP
patch server (or software.hp.com/products/IUX), and
install that one. It is free, hence you will not need any
codewords.

Re: Ignite-UX

Hi,

If you want to install the latest version of Ignite, here is the link on the HP server:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Select the one you want (HP-UX 10.x/11.x).
It's a free product so you don't need any codeword.

Best regards,

Dan
