Ignite Upgrade

I have Ignite C.6.1.44 installed on my 11.00 and 11.11 servers. I am upgrading to Ignite C.7.9.261. I have installed "261" on my development servers without a hitch, servers I will be upgrading are production machines. Is there anyway I can save or swcopy the current version of Ignite so I can re-install in case the upgrade doestn work? Also, will an 11.0 server support Ignite C.7.9.261?

In regards to your question - you could do a swremove to go backwards if the install isn't what you expect. Further, I believe there is a self check during the swinstall process. If the version doesn't work on 11.00 it would fail before you get to far.

Re: Ignite Upgrade

Yes, swinstall has a check process before it installs software. However, if I remove C.6.1.44 first, whether or not C.7.9.261 is compatible with 11.0, I have to recover C.6.1.44. Could I swcopy it to another location or server before I remove it permanently?

No. See:

This would require a re-packaging of an Ignite depot from software that is already installed. I have never tried this. Of course, a full Ignite backup taken before any software installation always guarantee's recoverability :-)
