Ignite-Ux thro' lan.
I want to take the root file system backup thro'lan by using make_net_recovery command or some other best way.
Basically we are using one DLT Library. Is there anyway to take the root filesystem backup of all servers thro' lan in that DLT library by using Ignite-UX.
Please can anybody tell me the detail procedure of taking backup and restoration.
For normal data backup we are using Omni Back 4.10.
Thanks in Advance,
Vinoth kumar.

Re: Ignite-Ux thro' lan.
No, I don't think that will work. Normally make_net_recovery goes to standard storage on an Ignite server i.e. to disk space.
make_tape_recovery volumes must be bootable & I don't think DLT devices are supported as bootable devices.
Now, the other thing about pure network make_net_recovery operations can be problematic because the Ignite server containing the image *needs* to be on the same subnet as the client to be recovered. The work-around is to create the make_net_recovery normally & then when it needs to be restored one boots the Install/Recovery CD on the client & one picks the Ignite Install option & points to the Ignite server.
Bottom line is that tape recovery must be a local tape drive that is bootable.
HTH,
Jeff

Re: Ignite-Ux thro' lan.
It is all findable via
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html
top 11-1 How can I learn more about network recovery?
In addition to the information in this FAQ, there are several other sources of information on network recovery:
Read chapter 11 of the Ignite-UX Administration Guide .
/opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt - This describes the basic functionality of network recovery. It explains how to install the product and how to use it.
These manual pages are new or were modified for network recovery:
make_net_recovery(1M)
make_boot_tape(1M)
pkg_rec_depot(1M)
instl_adm(1M)
instl_adm(4)
ignite(5)
/opt/ignite/share/doc/release_note - The release note lists new features and known problems with network recovery.

Re: Ignite-Ux thro' lan.
If you want to use Ignite-UX to make a bootable tape for a server, the tape device must be locally attached to the server.
