Ignite across platforms

Please save me from the man pages!!!

We have various HP's D/R/K/A/L classes on 10.20 and 11.00, 32 and 64 bit. Can I create an Ignite Server such that I can install onto all these servers. Or am I limited by these differences??

I have manaed to create depots for 11 and 10.2 but have varying success when trying to add client servers via the Ignite GUI

TIA

Ignite server is just a storage platform for images and should not cause any problems.

see man make_net_recovery.

Re: Ignite across platforms

since you got HPUX 11, u need to install IGNITE Unix 11 (fm application media of HP UX 11), so that u can use the same server for bothe HP UX 11 and HP UX 10.20

U can create different images for HP UX 10.20 and HP UX 11.
the same image can be used for HP UX 11 32 bit as well as 64 bit

Let the choices you make today be the choices you can live with tomorrow.

Re: Ignite across platforms

yes there's no problem doing that.

You need to d/l the all in one ignite package, and patch the clients appropriately, but after that it'll work no problem.

Get the ignite11_ALL from:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Re: Ignite across platforms

Hi,

You will have to download the latest Ignite version from this link:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Intended for all hp-ux 10.20/11.0/11i systems
(67 MB download)
(100 MB installed)

Then you have an installation suitable for installing and recovering all platforms.
