Ignite and NFS

Hi all,

I was wondering if anything is being done on the Ignite-UX facilities regarding using NFS as a transport mechanism.

Does HP have a solution when one cannot use NFS in the environment?

TIA

Re: Ignite and NFS

Francis,

Not sure if you are asking because you have a specific problem creating archives now, or just if HP are planning to change the way ignite operates.

If it's the first then the method below might help:

I believe you could use make_net_recovery and using the -a option store the files created on the client itself ie locally. You would then need a method to move those fiels to a cental location (ideally the ignite server itself) using scp, or ftp maybe.

Hope I haven't misunderstood your question.

Tony.
You CAN do that on HP

Re: Ignite and NFS

Hi Francis,

Hp has no plans at this point to change ignite to use something other then NFS.

Re: Ignite and NFS

Yes. You can configure your image installations to be transferred using NFS, ftp, or remsh.

The config file option syntax is:

nfs_source =
ftp_source =
remsh_source =

See "man 4 instl_adm" and /opt/ignite/data/examples/core11.cfg

Re: Ignite and NFS

Hmmm.....

Thanks a lot for your replies...does not help me much in my current setup though :-)

What about doing make_tape_recovery with VTL (Virtual Tape Library) emulating DDS-4 tape drives....????

Would that work or even make sense?

I have local tape drives but I need a centralised location to put these images. For patch management purposes.

I looked at the specs for VTL's and it seems that it would be much faster to recover.

TIA
