Ignite backup failed.

Hi Experts,

pax: write : I/O error
pax: A write error has occurred.
WARNING: The pax command returned a non-zero exit status (exit status 1).
ERROR: The find_files command failed (exit status 141).

ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will not be created.

Have you checked your tape drive ? Is there any issue with tape or drive ?

As this is a cell based server so i have one built in tape drive & another 2 external tape drive connected.

plz clarify me:: If i inserted tape into different drive the & whether this would be the behaviour ? at final stage only it will throw error ?? as unscssefull ?

You have only one tape drive connected to the system and I can see the current tape is at the end.

You may do, rewind, forward functions as well as read/write operations from your tape to identify, whether any issues.

This is DDS tape, can i insert DAT72 & try to take ignite backup?

I/O error for tape indicates a hardware problem. Change tapes and try running a simple tar backup:

tar cvf /dev/rmt/2m /tmp

If this fails, have you recently added any new devices to the same bus as the tape drive? Has the cable or terminator been touched recently? Otherwise, it may be a bad tape drive.

Hi,
this looks like there is some issue with your PAX version installed.
You may probably need to update PAX-ENH version 1.0.

Replace your tape drive - you have a serious hardware problem. You might even have a problem with the SCSI card. This assumes that all the answers to my questions about your cables and connections are positive.
