Re: Ignite for Superdome partition

make_net_recovery -s server_onwhichignitetobetaken -a server:/ignite_store_location -v -n 1 (one archive)

check man page for make_net_recovery
There is no substitute to HARDWORK

Re: Ignite for Superdome partition

Hi

if you are doing a make_tape_recovery on each
partition you will make backup up your system on a tape .

you will need to do it for each partation .
you just need that your partition will recognize the DDS tape .

the devide of a superdome it on the hardware issue and not software .

i have to say that i have nenver install a system on a superdome but i guess it is the same , you need to boot from the tape and restore the system on the partition that you want to restore.

if you dont have a device to do the backup just do a make_net_recovery of the system or build a ignite server and then you can also do a make_net_recovery from the ignite server

Re: Ignite for Superdome partition

Your questions had been answered. Just be aware that just because Ignite can write to a tape doesn't mean you are graranteed to boot from it. THAT should be tested. (As restoring from any backup should be.)

Re: Ignite for Superdome partition

As mentioned, you should ignite each partition as hardware path and device files will not necessarily be identical between the two.

Secondly, using the SMS as the ignite partition is a relatively good idea, but it could also be an idea to back it up as well!

It works for me (tm)
