Ignite is missing data on recovery

Hi,

I created an Ignite network recovery archive for a system and used the archive for recovery another system on a different network.

I’m seen the recovery is not populating all directories on /var and /opt

Source system: ia64 hp server BL860c HP-UX 11.23

Target system: ia64 hp server rx6600 HP-UX 11.23

Source:

# bdf /var

Filesystem          kbytes    used   avail %used Mounted on

/dev/vg00/lvol8    13336576 9317592 3989336   70% /var

Target:

# bdf /var

Filesystem          kbytes    used   avail %used Mounted on

/dev/vg00/lvol8    13336576  835832 12403200    6% /var

Missed directories on /var:

X11

empty

dt

jail

mail

preserve

vx

yp

I did three other recoveries between different sources and targets.

In all cases /var and /opt are different between source and target.

The original archives were created successfully.

In most cases source is a blade and target is either rx6600 or rx2660 but in one case source model is rp3440 and target is rp4440 and still /var and /opt were different. In this last case HW is close enough to blame it for the missing data.

I’ll appreciate any comments on this.

Fidel

and what was the syntax you used to create your archive?

Re: Ignite is missing data on recovery

It sounds like you are using the default options which only back up "essential" files.  Try using the -A option (or -xinc_entire=vg00)
